May 19, 2014 Host Emma Breacain Makes Kinetic Racer Jenny Weiss Explain Her Strange Hobby

big foot and bigfoot

Every Memorial Day Weekend, tourists from around the globe descend on this forgotten corner of rural northern California to take part in a quirky local tradition gone international. The Kinetic Grand Championship is a three day art race that tests the limits of art, engineering, and personal endurance as ordinary folks take homemade, all terrain art vehicles on a 42 mile adventure for the delight of thousands of spectators.

Jenny Weiss is one of the people behind the pedals who will be competing against 40 or so other teams this weekend for prizes in art, engineering, speed, best flip, best splash, or the highly coveted “Mediocre Award.”

This veteran racer is here to share her stories from eight years on the course, building and racing machines with her husband, Billy, the weird times, the good times, and that time she nearly got killed.IMG_0081

Jenny and Billy’s plans for the 2014 Kinetic Grand Championship have been a closely guarded secret, but if you visit the official Facebook page of their team, Kinetic Blue Oyster Cult, they’re ready to reveal more as race day draws closer: https://www.facebook.com/kineticblueoyster
