October 22, 2012 Host Kathleen Marshall Speaks With Historian Alex Service and Director Carol Escobar About Fortuna’s Sunrise Cemetary’s 3rd Annual Production of ‘Grave Matters and Untimely Departures’

The Fortuna Chamber of Commerce, in conjunction with Fortuna’s Sunrise Cemetary, is producing their third annual Halloween Event ‘Grave Matters and Untimely Departures’.  Historian Alex Service researched the lives of nine people buried in Sunrise Cemetary.   Director Carol Escobar then asked nine actors to develop monologues based on those historic records.  The monologues bring each person back to life for 5 minutes in order to tell their stories from the beyond.

Carol and Alex discuss their inspiration, the process, the challenges and the joys of creating this annual interactive production.

Grave Matters and Untimely Departures will be presented one day only, Sunday October 28, 2012 from 2 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Fortuna Sunrise Cemetery on Newburg Road. Tickets available in advance at the Fortuna Chamber of Commerce and at the gate on the day of the event. Newburg Park parking with complimentary shuttle service provided to the cemetery. Comfortable shoes a must! Rain or Shine. Tours leave every 10 minutes.
