July 30 – Host Amy Jester Speaks with Jessica Pettitt on Her Work “I Am Safe Zone”

We all have choices about how we respond to issues and incidents of oppression witnessed in our work lives, on campus, and in personal relationships. One option to combat hate in our communities is to create safe zones. This week TTEOW talks with Jesica Pettitt, social justice and diversity trainer and consultant, about how to authentically create hate-free spaces. We’ll explore the triangulation of sex, gender and sexual identity, heterosexism at work, and breaking through personal barriers related to stigma and oppression.

Jessica has provided trainings and consultation for those who serve the LGBT community for over 10 years and has twice been nominated by Campus Activities Magazine for Best Diversity Artist, and was named as Hot Pick for 2011. Jessica is widely known for her humor and ability to challenge the mind, inspire conscience, and invigorate those she speaks with to pursue change in their communities. Check out her website at
